In May this year, Amy appeared on the cover of TV WEEK kissing Chris Hemsworth in character, of course! "Chris and I had to kiss for this and other scenes, but it turned into a situation where he became like my brother," Amy recalls. "It does feel very staged when you're kissing for the camera." This was just one of many TV WEEK covers for Amy during the first half of the year. "I came into the show as a guest star and the fact that they created these fantastic storylines for me meant a lot," Amy says. "When I started out on the show, I was not a Home And Away cover girl by any means Kit was the alcoholic of the lot! So to be able to wear nice clothes and have my hair and make-up done and become a cover girl was so thrilling for me."
We all know Chris Hemsworth has been making a name for himself in Hollywood since his character Kim left Summer Bay. But what has Amy Mizzi, who played Kit, the "other woman" in Kim and Rachel's (Amy Mathews) marriage, been up to?
Amy reveals she's busy teaching singing and dancing on the NSW Central Coast. "I finished my last Home And Away scenes in May and then filmed a TV pilot called Hammer Bay for MTV," Amy says. "But I've mostly been teaching, which I love. The youngest of my students is two and a half and the oldest ones are in their early 20s."
Not surprisingly, many of Amy's protégées are still hungry for gossip about the Home And Away cast. "They love to ask me about the boys from the show: 'Who's the cutest? Who's a good kisser?' " she says, laughing.
Amy is soon heading off to the UK to appear on stage in a pantomime production of Aladdin, but she certainly hasn't ruled out a return to our screens.
"I'm still auditioning for things here and still trying to make a go of it," Amy says. "I'd love to be part of another TV series or the same TV series if they'd have me back!"
Amy reveals that while she was pleased Kim and Kit finally found happiness together, she wishes her character hadn't become, well, quite so whiney!
"I didn't like the kind of person that Kit seemed to turn into," she says. "She became really horrible and bitter. I wanted to tell her to pull her head in all the time!"
